PD in Your PJ's: My First Periscope

Hey there, wow, it's been a while.  One of my New Year's Resolutions was to blog more.  I haven't really followed through.  So here I am trying to blog more...

One way I'm going to try to blog more is by linking up with some fabulous bloggers to share with you some awesome things.  So, here we go...this is a good one!

Have you heard of Periscope?   Periscope is live streaming videos from some of your favorite teacher authors.  You can comment and interact with the host and give them hearts.  That's the best part.  I found it this summer watching Ashley from Schroeder Shenanigans in Second and Angie from Lucky Little Learners

Since I've started watching scopes I would say this is some of the best PD I've ever seen.  It's real life, real teachers sharing about things they know and love.  If you're just a teacher or a teacherpreneur there are fabulous scopers out there for you to follow.

I ventured into Periscope with my first scope last weekend.  I've joined up with a friend from a class I'm taking and we pushed encouraged each other to do our own.  So, I did it.  After a full weekend of presenting 4 sessions at my district's Reading and Writing Winter Institute, I continued the weekend of presenting and introduced myself to the world of periscope.  You can see my replay on katch.me.

Click on this picture to watch it.

It was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again.  I'm planning on weekly Quick Tips with Paige scopes, probably (looks like I've decided) on Sundays.

I have A TON of ideas in my head and on paper of what I want to share, but some things include:

  • Book reviews
  • Interactive Read Alouds
  • Phonics
  • Phonemic Awareness
  • Workshop Tips (Reading & Writing)
  • iPads in a first grade classroom
I will be coming at you LIVE on Periscope for the next several Sundays to share some of these ideas with you.  I can't wait!  Make sure you follow me too!

Here is my infomation.

And here are some of my favorite Teacher Scopers.

I also really like Meg from Meg's New Box of Crayons and Jess from The Whimsical Teacher.  They are both entertaining and fun to watch as well.

Moral of the story: GET ON PERISCOPE and follow some fabulous teachers.
